Christmas Trends 2018

With nine weeks to go until our favourite festive holiday, we are seriously considering how we will be decorating our homes this Christmas.

One thing we’ve noticed about the main looks this year is that they have all got Christmas looking fashion-forward, finally!

From the dark and moody take on jewel tones, and the proud and playful rainbow theme, to the surprising jet-black scheme, Christmas has never looked so cool.

So whether you treasure a traditional tree or fancy a flutter with full-on colour, here’s our top picks:

Rainbow

Stunning your house with happy vibes for the year to come is the Rainbow Christmas tree. Rainbows ruled the runways this year with many high-street brands like Primark and John Lewis bringing out collections – many of which were in support of LGBTQ charities – so we love this idea of adorning your tree in a defiant blaze of glory. It’s as if a dazzle of unicorns have visited and spread fashion-led festive cheer! Opt for Ombre blocks of colourful decorations, rather than all-over explosion of colour to keep it stylish.

Jet Black

The polar opposite to the rainbow trend but oh-so-sophisticated, the jet-black scheme will have scrooges, minimalists and goths alike swooning for the season. The colour charcoal had quite a year on the trend radar and it shows no sign of leaving the party as matte black is a key colour for 2019. Therefore, I’d advise buying jet black ornaments and tableware that can be used all year round.

Jewel Tones

Jewel tones are always a key tree theme, but this year we see them take a dark and decadent turn. With ruby, amber, emerald and sapphire trumping the more familiar purple and teal combo, these colours look great mixed together for a bold, luxe touch. Or to really standout, go for a simple yet stunning one-colour format.

If you prefer a lighter and brighter aesthetic, Moonstone is also having a moment, so an all-white palette will create a glistening and almost cosmic snowy effect.
